IWWIP International Nurseries are ready for distribution
IWWIP International Nurseries are ready for
distribution.
International Winter Wheat Improvement
Program (IWWIP) develops diverse germplasm that may fit to different
agro-climatic and production conditions in the Winter Facultative Wheat growing
regions in the world. Following extensive multi-location selection and testing,
the best-performing lines are selected and they will be distributed to IWWIP
cooperators.
As is in previous years, IWWIP
International Nurseries (IN) have been prepared for Semi Arid conditions (100
entries) and high rainfall and irrigated conditions (120 entries); IWWIP team
makes great effort to ensure to distribute disease-free seed fully complying with
quarantine conditions of Turkey and the IWWIP cooperator countries. More than
90 IWWIP cooperators from 25 countries have requested IN’s from IWWIP. The
seeds have been cleaned, prepared, packed and ready for distribution. Once the
Seed Health Certificates are obtained, they will take their journeys to the
respective recipients.
The IWWIP team wishes all cooperators a
successful growing season in the coming year. We hope the newly developed
germplasm will support their efforts to identify best lines that enhance their farmers’
yields and contribute to food security. We also extend our sincere thanks to
the Turkish cooperators that their efforts made it possible to bring the germplasm’s
seed to this stage; without their efforts it may not have been possible to
bring it to the IWWIP cooperators.
